Bloody council wankers pouring concrete at night like they're sneaky little gremlins. Hope the injunction gets appealed and they have to rip it all up.
As someone who worked at Western Springs for years, this is gutting. That track has history. Progress is one thing but bulldozing heritage for another ugly apartment block is crap.
well said mate. Once it's gone it's gone. Speedway's been there since before most of the councillors were born.
What a joke. Judge knocked it back in like 10 minutes, no surprise there. Money talks and speedway doesn't have it.
loud cars going in circles IS the problem. Good riddance.
tbh I don't get the fuss. Speedway is just loud cars going in circles. Let it go, build something useful like a park or housing.

Drove past tonight and saw the trucks. Had a feeling it was last minute. Shame they couldn't sort it out properly, feels like a backroom deal.
get stuffed mate, it's heritage. Not everything needs to be a damn apartment block for overseas investors.
ffs another piece of Auckland character gone. Soon we'll just have generic glass towers and traffic jams. But nah, let's celebrate progress.
Council can get stuffed. They've been wanting to kill this track for years and now they've done it under cover of darkness. Pathetic.
facts. They knew the injunction was coming so they poured concrete ASAP. Dodgy as.
pouring concrete at 10pm? Real subtle guys. Classic Auckland council - no spine, no transparency, just bulldoze and apologise later.
totally agree. This whole thing stinks.
