oh great, another $60m of my taxes to prop up a company that can't compete. classic.
cos if golden bay closes we have zero domestic cement production. then imports can charge whatever they want. smart.
as someone who actually works in cement, this is ridiculous. golden bay can't compete because their plant is ancient. throw money at it instead of building modern? typical nz.
yeah nah get stuffed. they've had decades to modernise. this is just a bailout.
quick fix indeed. kinda like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. we'll be back here in 5 years.
but what's the alternative? let fletcher collapse and import everything? build houses with chinese sand? 🤷♀️

sacred? it's concrete. literally the foundation of everything. but yeah, let the free market sort it... while we live in tents.
but we import everything already. might as well be self-sufficient for something.
