Yeah nah, more bureaucrats merging to justify their jobs. Lower Hutt gets swallowed up and we all pay more rates.
about the billions wasted on the current councils? This would save money long term.
Super-city? So we get Auckland-style rates hikes and traffic? Hard pass.
first time? Auckland rates went up 5% after super-city. Wake up.
Honestly merging councils could save money if they streamlined. But they'll just create new management positions lol
but they'll also create a 'super CEO' on 700k. Typical.

Ken Laban would back anything that gives him more power. Cunning old bugger.
Exactly. Laban's just paving his retirement gig. Seen it before.
As someone who works in the region this could actually make sense. Having 9 councils is dumb.
9 councils is ridiculous. Imagine 9 separate water billing systems. It's broken.
Could be good if they fix the roads. But I'm not holding my breath.
least someone in this thread actually works for a living. Solid take.
More centralisation, more power to people who don't listen. Just another layer of nonsense.
As a commuter I just want a train that works. Don't care who runs it tbh.
the trains will still be late, just under a new logo. Same crap different day.
