Actually, if you review the NRL rulebook clause 5.2.4 on forward passes, the trajectory was marginal at best. The touch judge's positioning was suboptimal.
margin was within statistical variance though. Per the NRL's own data, incorrect calls occur at a rate of 0.8 per match.
