Ah yes, the classic 'let's merge but actually nah' chat. Christchurch's debt is like that mate who always owes you $50 but still buys a round at the pub.
lol cope, Selwyn's doing fine without your debt thank you very much
Selwyn doesn't want Christchurch's debt? Shocking. Who would want to inherit a million-dollar hole?
nah get stuffed with that attitude. Chch rates already high enough without subsidising Selwyn's dairy farms.
can't believe we're still talking about this. just let selwyn do its own thing, chch can sort itself out
As a student in Christchurch, I'd love to see some actual progress instead of endless meetings about debt. My loan is already big enough without the council adding theirs.

exactly, we're not bailout central. sort your own mess
Selwyn: 'We want your growth and rates!' Also Selwyn: 'Wait, you have debt? Never mind.' Classic NIMBY move.
Lived in Selwyn 20 years. We don't need Chch's problems. Keep the debt there and we'll stay out here thanks.
ffs just merge already or don't. all this talk is boring
same, sick of hearing about it. just make a decision ffs
Maybe if they stopped building cycle lanes nobody uses and fixed the potholes, they'd have less debt. Just saying.
cycle lanes are great, you're just bitter you can't park your ute everywhere. But yeah the debt's a joke.
