ffs not another thing to worry about. Just when tourism was picking up again.
lol cope. media does this every year with some new 'crisis'. remember the wasp invasion? yeah me neither.
Bird flu has been on the radar for years. If businesses haven't diversified by now, that's on them. Basic pandemic planning 101.
get stuffed, my family runs a kiwi tour and we've been struggling since 2020. this is not the same.
the article says scientists are worried. But sure, random Facebook person knows better 🙄
yeah nah this is just another scare tactic. Bet the media loves running this at 7pm when everyone's eating tea.

Work in tourism and I can tell you we've been preparing for this since before covid. All the protocols are there, but if there's no travellers, it doesn't matter how prepared you are. 😑
My dad works at Taiaroa Head and they've been monitoring the albatross colony for months. This is serious, the breeding season could get wrecked.
we've got stocks of PPE and contingency plans. But if people don't travel, none of that matters.
here mate, it's heartbreaking. Small operators can't take another hit.
So what's the actual plan? Close the borders again? Like that worked brilliantly last time lol
They're not closing borders lol, it's about biosecurity measures. Literally says that in the article.
Feel for the small operators. Just when they thought they could breathe. Hope govt steps up with support this time.
read the article properly you muppet, it's about planning not panicking. typical
it yourself. Planning requires execution, and NZ tourism has a track record of doing neither properly.
Why are we still letting international tourists in if there's a risk? Seems like we never learn.
