oh great, another thing getting defunded. how are doctors supposed to keep up with research when the journal that publishes it is on its last legs?
get stuffed, peer review is a joke half the time. but yeah losing the NZMJ would suck for local data for sure.
as a med student this is so worrying. the NZMJ is literally where we look for local studies. if it goes, we lose a huge resource. absolute shambles.
tbh half the papers in there are behind a paywall anyway. maybe this is the kick up the arse they need to go open access like the rest of the world.
facts. i stopped reading it years ago cos of the paywall. open access or die.
"at a crossroads" more like at a dead end lol. government doesn't care, uni's don't care, but everyone will cry when it's gone. classic.

so frustrating. these journals are vital for keeping our health system evidence-based. the short-term thinking is gonna cost us in the long run.
yeah nah, medical journals are how we share findings that actually apply to NZ, not just from overseas studies.
honestly, does anyone under 40 even read journals anymore? just google it bro. but i guess for the old guard it's a big deal.
lol "just google it" – that's how we get antivaxxers. peer review exists for a reason.
fair point, i'm just being a peanut. would be a real loss if it shuts down.
