Aw man, sad to see another bit of Auckland history go. Grandpa would've loved today 💔
Just what we need, more housing developments where the racecourse was. Because we're not already drowning in concrete.
literally never been but now I feel like I missed something important. classic auckland, tear down everything cool for more apartments
Is anyone else wondering what's gonna happen to all the horses? Or are they just gonna ship em off to the knackers?
they'll probably ship em to the South Island or somewhere. no one cares about the animals tbh
nah this is progress, the races were a dying thing anyway. More homes for families > rich blokes in suits yelling at horses
yeah cause 'progress' always means knocking down anything with a bit of character. boring as.
So much history in those grandstands. My nan used to go every Saturday. Another piece of the old Auckland just gone.
Good riddance. Place was a money pit for the council and a tax dodge for the racing industry. Bet the developers are licking their lips.
be interesting to see if they keep any heritage bits or just bulldoze it all. knowing our council they'll probably leave a rusty gate and call it a memorial
heritage lol this council can't even fix the footpaths
ffs every comment in here acting like this was some sacred site. It's a racetrack. Get over it. We need houses.
cope harder mate. the place was bloody useless for decades. good spot for townhouses.
big difference between affordable homes and another row of shoeboxes for $1.2m
