the council here spent millions on a stopbank that didn't even hold. but sure, keep waiting for central govt to save us 🙄
facts. my cousin works for council and says the paperwork alone could fill the whole floodplain
translation: we ain't getting a cent. classic nz politics – punt the problem down the road and hope no one notices
our mayor's been saying this for years. poor buggers in wairoa keep copping it while the govt dithers
get stuffed – at least we're talkin about it now instead of pretending it's not happenin
what a load of rubbish. we just need some proper planning not more surveys

lol 'proper planning' – we can't even plan a bus lane mate
ffs – they keep talking resilience while my insurance premium triples. wonder where the real money is going
it's not just the money, it's the will to actually do something instead of kicking the can
wishful thinking? more like wishful lying. they've known about this for a decade
typical – same old story, different flood. nothing changes
my friend's family lost their house in gabrielle. still waiting for a payout. no one's coming to save u
can someone explain how 'climate adaptation' is different from just fixing the drains? cos round here it's all talk
yeah drains are a start but u need sea walls and stopbanks too – but who's gonna pay for that? not the ratepayers thats for sure
