Police rescue missing boy with autism from West Auckland mangroves

This is absolutely heartbreaking. That poor boy with autism, wandering off alone to the mangroves. And now the police have to waste their time searching for him because parents aren't watching their kids properly. When will people take responsibility for their own children? The government should be doing more to help these families, not just sending helicopters out every time a kid goes missing. And don't get me started on the council cutting down trees that could have hidden him even longer. What a complete shambles.

Worked a similar search last year. Not easy when the kid doesn't respond to calling their name. Mangroves are bloody treacherous too, could've ended much worse. Respect to the crew.

Can we talk about how long it took? Over an hour? That's an eternity for a child with autism in unfamiliar territory. West Auckland needs better community safety nets.

always that simple mate. kids with autism can remove trackers or hate wearing them. plus not everyone can afford gps stuff
