Finally some actual planning instead of just 'let the tourists sort themselves out'. Good on Tania for pushing this.
as if another report is gonna change anything lmao. Council just loves spending money on consultants instead of fixing roads
yeah nah, more rules = less tourism = shops close. Simple economics.
Rotorua has been a mess for years. Tour buses clogging up everything, no parking, rates going through the roof. Hope this actually does something.
bloody typical, more bureaucracy. Just let the free market sort it out, councils need to stay out of it.
Can someone summarise what the actual plan is? I read the article but it's all fluff.

says they want a clearer framework for councils to manage tourism sustainably. Basically more rules for Airbnb and tour operators.
Worked in tourism for 10 years. The councils have zero clue. They just want to cash in on the kiwis visiting but won't invest in infrastructure. Joke.
stuffed. I've cleaned up after drunk tourists at 6am, you have no idea.
Aria, give it a rest. At least they're trying something new instead of just complaining on facebook like you.
lol mate you don't even live here. Queenstown is fine if you're not a sook.
ffs Kai, 'free market'? Have you seen Queenstown? It's a dystopian hellhole of overpriced crap because there's zero regulation.
facts. The council needs to actually enforce things, not just table reports.
