I'm 19 and I can't afford to move out of my parents' place. How is this country meant to function when kids are living in cars?

Yeah nah, this is what happens when you vote in the same two parties every time. Both as useless as each other when it comes to housing.

I work full time and still can't get a mortgage. How are families supposed to cope when a basic 3-bedroom in Hamilton is 800k?
It's heartbreaking. We see it in our community every day. The government needs to step up and build state houses like they used to.
if we bailed out fewer landlords and actually built houses... nah too sensible.

Is this just in Auckland or all over? I'm in Dunedin and I see a few rough sleepers but not that many kids.
