wait so theyre gonna shoot some of them? what a waste. side note, are these deer tasty? asking for a mate
I'd eat one. Never tried wapiti, is it gamey?
they already planned to use the venison for local food banks. So it's not a total waste. Good on them.
The article says 'herd of special interest'. More like 'herd of special bullshit' if you ask me. Another excuse for the govt to hand out hunting permits to their mates 🙄
FFS another cull? Just let them be. We're so quick to shoot anything that makes a mess. Maybe we should cull the tourists instead
Been tramping through Fiordland for years. These deer are a bloody menace to the native bush. Culling is the only way to keep the balance. Good on DOC for finally doing something.

here we go. 'Balance'. Nature was doing fine before we showed up with our guns and agendas.
yeah nah get stuffed. more government overreach. let the hunters manage it like always.
Can someone explain what 'herd of special interest' actually means? Is this like a new legal status? Genuinely curious for my enviro assignment lol
you clearly haven't seen what 10,000 deer do to the saplings. It's a desert out there.
