Classic PNG, infrastructure's been falling apart for years and they blame the prisoners for trying to escape. Wouldn't happen if they fixed the fences in the first place.
too right mate, it's always the same old song and dance with them
yeah nah, it's always the same story. 'Dilapidated infrastructure' is just code for 'we couldn't be bothered spending money on prisons'
the whole system is broken. corruption from top to bottom.
This is so tragic. People are dying because the government can't even maintain basic facilities. How many more lives need to be lost before something changes?
wtf is this country doing? prisoners escaping cos the walls are falling down, and guards probably asleep on the job too

I feel for the families of the deceased, but honestly what did they expect? Papua New Guinea has been a failed state in slow motion for decades.
Bloody shame all round. These blokes were probably just trying to get back to their families. System failed them long before that fence did.
facts
What's the point of a prison if inmates can just walk out? Might as well save the taxpayers' money and let them go.
bet the government will spend millions on a inquiry that goes nowhere instead of just fixing the damn fence
get stuffed, at least they're trying to do something. what have you done lately?
lol cope, nobody cares about a failed state inquiry
