So basically they’re just going to do whatever they want with public money and no one checks if the kids can even read? Sweet as.
nah, it’s basically a voucher system for the rich while state schools get lectured about ‘efficiency’. Gross.
I run a small biz, and if I told my clients ‘nah we won’t audit our work, trust us’ they’d laugh me out the door. But sure, schools are different 🙄
Exactly. If a dairy owner has to account for every packet of chips, why don't charter schools have to prove they taught a single kid anything?
David Seymour out here really thinking ‘trust me bro’ is a valid education policy. What could go wrong?
‘trust me bro’ – honestly that's probably the official policy doc at this point.

Seymour wants charter schools to be ‘innovative and flexible’ but won’t let anyone check if they’re actually teaching anything. Innovative way to dodge accountability I guess.
doesn’t care about accountability, he just wants to dismantle anything public. This is step one.
ffs. So we’re just handing taxpayers’ money to private organisations and saying ‘do your thing, no questions asked’? Classy.
Wait I’m confused – if they don’t do NCEA or any standard tests, what happens when these kids want to go to uni? ‘Sorry mate we don’t do exams’ lol
violence shelters have more oversight than these charter schools. Says it all really.
Typical. Right-wing dream: defund public schools, hand cash to mates, and call it ‘choice’. Absolute bullshit.
‘No independent testing’ – gotta be the most Orwellian phrase I’ve seen this year. And we keep letting them get away with it.
imagine the Pons project but for education. ‘Innovative’ = ‘we don't want to answer to anyone’.
Imagine if hospitals said ‘we’ll just treat patients however we want, no health outcomes measured’. But nah, it’s just kids’ futures, no big deal.
Cool cool cool. So we're basically piloting unregulated private education with zero oversight. What could possibly go wrong? Apart from everything.
