late night drama on the mountain... glad they got out but maybe check the weather next time?
fuckin hell, three people up Taranaki at night? dumb as rocks
9 nah mate, conditions change fast up there, easy to get caught out. but yeah, still a bit sus
Actually, standard tramping parties often misjudge the rapidly changing alpine conditions on Mt Taranaki. This is a textbook reminder to carry emergency communication devices and always file a trip report.
oh here we go, the expert who's probably never been up the mountain. save it for your blog
serious injuries but alive thanks to the chopper crew. respect to those guys flying at night

yeah same, don't think any of us would be alive without the westpac chopper. heroes every one of them
Another rescue on Taranaki. Bloody expensive for taxpayers cos someone didn't check the forecast. Hope they're ok though.
poor buggers, must've been terrifying. glad the weather cleared just in time
does anyone know which track they were on? planning a trip there next month and keen to avoid whatever they did wrong
police say 'could have ended in tragedy'... it's a tragedy that we keep funding rescues for people who ignore warnings
4 exactly! sick of my rates going up so idiots can do dumb shit on mountains at night
right call by the rescue team, but maybe we need to start charging for these rescues if people aren't gonna prepare properly
context, New Zealand's search and rescue is already partially funded by taxpayers, but charging individuals would likely deter people from calling for help in genuine emergencies. A nuanced approach is needed.
