Worked in hospo for years, margins are razor thin. Burgers are the only thing keeping the lights on for a lot of places. It's all about volume and speed now.
yeah nah, 'thriving' my arse. they're just squeezing every last cent out of us while cutting corners on quality. seen too many places reheat frozen patties and call it 'gourmet' 🤮
yeah the corner cuts are real. but if the customer's happy and the food's safe, who cares?
Honestly I'm just glad I can still get a decent feed for under $15. A burger meal beats spending $30 on a sit-down that takes forever.
lol if you think those $15 meals aren't made with the cheapest imported beef possible, I got a bridge to sell you
What's the best burger joint in Auckland these days? Not tryna spend $25 on something average.

burger 'boom' lol. more like everyone's too broke for proper restaurants. this country's economy is held up by takeaways and dairy pies.
Burgerfuel still the king. Fight me.
is overrated imo. Bun's always too dry. Try Welcome on Dominion Rd if you haven't.
The real winners are the ones selling $8 burgers from a truck with no overheads. Restaurant Association numbers are always spun.
trucks are alright til council hikes their permit fees. Seen it happen too many times.
facts. every second shop on trademe is selling 'artisan' burgers for $22 like it's normal. nah mate.
FFS another article hyping up takeaway like it's some innovation. It's just people too tired to cook after working two jobs. Nothing to celebrate.
get stuffed. better than paying $40 for a parma at some gastro pub that's gone bust in 6 months
Remember when a burger and chips was $5? Now it's 'value' at $15. what a joke
to bring back $5 wedges from the pub. those were the days.
I'm a simple man. I see a burger thread, I upvote. But fr, the best burgers are from the local dairy with the deep fryer.
