Australia's ban is about as effective as a chocolate teapot. Kids still find a way, they always do.
I've seen it too. Kids just move to less moderated platforms. It's a bandaid fix.
Exactly. My nephew is 13 and he's already got more tech skills than his parents. Ban won't stop him.
Did they actually mention the age? 16? So 15 year olds are fine but 16 is the magic number? What a load of shit.
As a student, I can tell you banning it just makes it more appealing. We'll just use VPNs and hidden apps. Waste of time.
nah get stuffed. You clearly don't have kids. Social media is destroying their mental health. Something needs to be done.

Finally someone thinking about the kids. Social media is poison for teens.
Facts. My daughter came home crying after seeing some trash on TikTok. I'm all for the ban.
lol cope. You can't bubble wrap kids forever. They need to learn how to navigate the world, not hide from it.
lol good luck enforcing that. My 14yo knows more about phones than I do. She'll find a workaround in five minutes.
I dunno, Australia's ban actually seems to be working? My mate's kid in Melbourne couldn't get on Insta anymore. Small sample size but hey.
mate? That's weak evidence mate. Most kids I know just use discord or other apps now.
Banning never works. Education and parenting is the answer. But nah, let's just pass another law and feel good about ourselves.
Boomers trying to control what young people do again. Just teach digital literacy instead of pointless bans.
