Another finance minister talking down rate rises while the rest of us eat two-minute noodles for dinner. I remember when saving was a thing. Now it's 'adjustable rate mortgages' and praying the OCR stays put.
didn't they say this last time too, then it went up again? lol fool me once…
facts. every time they say 'downplay' i start planning for worse.
Yeah nah I'm not buying it. Willis just doesn't want to spook the housing market before the election.
real, when has any government actually admitted things are bad before an election? never.
Honestly, what's she supposed to say? 'Yeah we're all screwed, rates gonna go to 8%'? At least she's not being a drama queen about it.

what I was thinking. She's hardly gonna say 'haha get rekt homeowners'.
Cool cool cool, just as my floating rate mortgage was about to reset. Thanks Willis.
as a student, i don't even have a mortgage but this still affects my rent. landlords just pass it on. ffs
oh jeez, sorry I tried to see the bright side. some of us don't live in a constant state of rage.
Same. Landlords don't give a damn, they just increase the rent. Then complain about 'tenant entitlement'.
I think she's doing her best. Everyone always blames the minister but the Reserve Bank makes the call anyway.
Nope. She had a hand in the budget decisions that made the Reserve Bank's job harder. 'Avoiding stimulatory spending' my backside.
Righto, another politician telling us not to worry. Meanwhile my fixed term ends in 3 months and I'm looking at an extra $400 a month. But keep downplaying luv.
lol u think she cares about us? she's more worried about national's polling.
