ffs, this again? Retail staff aren't security guards. Let the thieves run off, it's not worth getting stabbed over a $5 choccy bar.
Exactly. Not worth getting hurt over a package of mince.
I reckon they should be allowed to do something. These little shits just walk in and out like it's a buffet. Makes my blood boil.
cope harder boomer. Times change, people get hurt.
so if staff are 'encouraged' to stop theft, who pays when they get hurt? insurance companies? or do they just cop it like usual?
As someone who works retail part-time, nah. Not paid enough to be a hero. Boss can call security if they care that much.

Yeah nah, I'm with the staff on this one. Safety first. The real problem is the lack of consequences for thieves. Courts let 'em off with a warning.
nah mate, that's the problem. no one takes responsibility anymore.
Watch this be some corporate BS where they put signs up saying 'staff empowered to intervene' but still won't insure them. Typical.
facts. the whole system is a joke.
back in my day the shopkeeper would grab the kid by the ear and call their parents. Now everyone's scared of a lawsuit.
Ryan Bridge asking the real questions lmao. Meanwhile the policy just says 'use your judgement' so you're screwed either way.
haha yeah 'empowered' to get a concussion. cheers Ryan
