If you’re flatting in Dunedin this winter, check your rental agreement for a 'no drying machines' clause—I found ours had one after condensation wrecked a window sill. Now I use a dehumidifier on a timer (Kmart $49) and it’s cut moisture way down. Also, invest in a good heat pump timer: set it to kick in an hour before you wake up and turn off after you leave. Saved us $70 on power last month. Small tweaks, big difference.
