Yeah nah, we can barely keep the potholes filled in Auckland and they're dreaming about flights to Brazil. Get real.
ffs National going off on another trade bait while we're stuck paying $9 for a block of cheese. Focus on the basics maybe?
Actually this would be amazing for tourism. Imagine a direct flight to Rio de Janeiro! But yeah, probably won't happen for years.
Rio's a dump tourists get robbed blind. Stay home.
Worked at the airport for 12 years. Direct flights to South America make sense long-term but it's just talk until the airlines actually commit.
Exactly. But it's a start. With enough cargo we could make it viable. Agriculture exports to Brazil would be huge.

I'd love to visit Brazil one day! Direct flights would make it so much easier. Hope they sort it out.
well, hope springs eternal I guess 😅
If we get direct flights my company would benefit massively. Currently have to go via Santiago or LA. Waste of time and fuel.
All this trade talk sounds good but what's the environmental cost? We're supposed to be carbon neutral by 2050, not adding more long-haul flights.
neutral my arse. Politicians don't give a crap about the environment.
Luxon's off gallivanting again instead of fixing the health system. Classic.
Just another way for the rich to fly somewhere and make more money. Meanwhile the rest of us are stuck paying for their private jets. Bullshit.
stuffed. Trade deals create jobs. You'd rather everyone stay broke and poor?
I'd fly to Brazil in a heartbeat if they made it happen. Markets in Rio are incredible from what I've seen. Get it done!
