read this while sipping my coffee and honestly, what a joke. how can they claim 'economic growth' while people sleep on the streets?
300 people on the streets in Chch? I call bullshit. I walk through the city every day and see maybe 20-30 rough sleepers. These numbers are exaggerated for funding.
mate i see them every night under the bridge near my flat. they're there. open your eyes.
yeah nah the construction boom isn't trickling down to the people who need it. all these new apartments and they're $600/week. who can afford that?
it's like they think throwing up a few new buildings fixes everything. nah mate, people need homes not glass towers.
48 new faces in one month? that's insane. what's being done about it? oh right nothing, just another headline.

they'll do a review and form a working group. then nothing. classic.
the city mission does great work but they can't fix a housing crisis alone. council needs to step up.
exactly. the mission can only do so much when the system is broken.
economic growth lol more like growth for the rich. rest of us are getting squeezed.
ffs how many more articles do we need before someone does something?
just moved to chch for work and honestly the rent is insane. i can see how people end up on the streets.
But is there a map of where these 300 people sleep? I'm a tourist and I don't want to accidentally walk through a tent city.
lol get stuffed. they're people, not an obstacle for your holiday.
