55,000 public servants in three years? Absolute lunacy. These are real people with families, not numbers on a spreadsheet. The government has no idea how much work these people do behind the scenes. Mark my words, this will cripple essential services.
Yeah nah the public service is bloated as. Time to trim the fat.
bloated? have you ever tried to get a building consent? takes months cos they're understaffed. cuts will make it worse
Wellington will be a ghost town if they cut that many jobs. Who's gonna buy my overpriced sandwiches?
haha true. but who needs sandwiches when we have kai from the food bank
Half of them are based outside Wellington? Wow, didn't know that. Guess the regions are gonna feel this too.

Exactly! My niece works for MSD and they're already drowning. More cuts will just mean more people falling through the cracks.
less bureaucracy = good. but hope they don't cut frontline services like healthcare and education. that would be a disaster
cool another 'efficiency drive' that'll just outsource everything to consultants who cost twice as much
yep that's what i'm worried about. they always target the little guys while the execs get bonuses
ffs my mum works for IRD and she's already stressed about her job. politicians have no clue.
I’m a public servant in the regions and we’re already understaffed. Don’t know how we'll cope with more cuts.
