From a work point of view, this makes a lot of sense.. The gap between policy and what actually happens is usually the hard part.
As someone who works with kids every day, I see how little they play outside now. It's all screens. Suzy Cato is a legend for pushing this.
My kids run around the neighbourhood till dark. But I know we're lucky to live in a safe area. Not every parent has that option.
true, infrastructure matters too. But we can all try to make small changes at home.
Oh great, another 'kids today' article. Blaming parents for working too much while rent eats half our wages. Maybe fix that first.
my point. Not everyone has a backyard or safe streets.
Suzy Cato was my childhood! She still looks the same. Hope she can make a difference.
1 in 5 doesn't play? How do they even measure that? Feels like another statistic spun to make us feel guilty.
call, but the stat is from a survey. Parents reported it. So it's legit enough to talk about.
Good on her. Play is how kids learn to share and solve problems. We need more people like Suzy speaking up.
honestly I'm guilty of giving my kid the tablet too much. It's hard after a long day. But this is a wake up call.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Every little bit counts. Even 15 mins outside makes a difference.
Easy to say but hard to do when both parents work and there's no safe parks nearby. Money talks.
Suzy's been on this for years. She knows what she's talking about.
If Suzy Cato is involved, I'm in. She's always been about doing good for kids. Let's go!
I get the angle, but I still want to see the actual numbers behind it.. wait till facebook gets the kids headline Stuff group chat is gonna go off. A lot depends on what the next update looks like.
You feel this kind of change immediately when you are out and about.. The real test is how it works for ordinary days, not press releases.
