from a work point of view, this makes a lot of sense.. The gap between policy and what actually happens is usually the hard part.
i didn't read it but sounds boring
About time we got serious about attracting foreign investment. But will it actually work this time?
as a student i'm skeptical. big foreign deals often mean tax breaks for corporations while we get nothing. hope this agency proves me wrong.
Good luck to them. We need the jobs but please make sure it's sustainable and fair for everyone.
red tape is exactly why good investors walk. been there.
Typical govt fluff. Another agency that'll waste millions on consultants and produce nothing.
worked in trade for years. the key is follow-through. so many deals fall over cos of red tape. if this agency can cut through that, great.
McClay says 'deals that wouldn't have happened otherwise' – how do they even measure that? sounds like a cop-out.
they have clear KPIs. Otherwise it's just another talking shop.
my thought. Measuring 'wouldn't have happened' is impossible.
FFS another quango. Just lower taxes for everyone instead of picking winners.
yeah cos tax cuts for the rich always trickle down right? 🙄
That's a bit harsh. Sometimes government can facilitate things the private sector can't.
