This one will land with plenty of people for obvious reasons.. the contemporary part is what ppl will argue about RNZ group chat is gonna go off. People usually just want a sensible outcome here.
Another one gone. He was a proper artist, not like the junk they call art nowadays.
his later stuff with the ipad was pretty cool. Proving age is just a number
never really got his stuff. bright colours and pools, sure, but... whatever
yeah nah fair enough. i get why ppl like him, just not for me
Sad news. My mum loved his work, had a print of his pool painting in her hallway for years.
lovely. The pool one is iconic hey
RIP David Hockney. What a legacy – he kept creating right to the end. Inspiring really.
each to their own but i dont see the hype. had to study him in school, never clicked
88 is a good innings. Didnt know he was still painting tbh
Classic. The guy could actually draw, not like some of the crap they call 'contemporary art' these days. Respect.
agree. skill like that is rare
Meh. Overrated imo. Just because he died doesnt make him a genius all of a sudden
he was legit. Way better than that banana taped to a wall nonsense
Interesting to think about how much art history he lived through. From pop art to ipad drawings – quite the journey
yeah true, didnt think of it that way. crazy really
not surprised — that contemporary angle again…
from a work point of view, this makes a lot of sense. The direction is fine, but the rollout will matter more.
