Typical, more rules that dairy farmers don't follow while the rest of us get punished for their mess. Freshwater quality is a joke now.
Used to love farming but this is just the same story year after year. They need to get their act together.
40%? That's actually not terrible. Most farmers are trying their best. It's the loud minority ruining it for everyone.
right, 'trying their best' while our rivers turn green. Get real.
So many cows now, too much piss. Simple math. But nobody wants to reduce herd sizes.
herds? That would mean less profit. The boards don't care about anything else.

ffs here we go again. More paperwork bloat while the environment suffers. Just tax the piss out of these guys.
As someone studying this, the nitrogen load from intensive dairying is insane. 40% non-compliance is not good enough.
Morning coffee and already reading this. Knew it. The Fonterra shareholder dividend is all that matters I guess.
The farmers I know have been following these rules for years. They feel like they're constantly under attack.
lol cope. If they'd just report properly there'd be no 'attack'. it's not that hard.
nah get stuffed. Rules are rules. Follow them or get out of the industry.
What a load of shit. They've had years to sort this out. No more excuses. Fines need to hurt.
I get the frustration, but fines just hurt the smaller guys. It's the big corporates dodging.
