Heads up if you’re renting in Tauranga – you can check your property’s insulation and heating standards online through the Tenancy Services website. I did this and realised my place didn’t meet requirements for the winter months. Landlord had to install a heat pump and underfloor insulation before I even asked. Saved me a lot of hassle and kept my power bills down. It’s a free look-up, just search your address. Worked for my mate in Mount Maunganui too. Worth a try if you’re freezing this winter.
