Great, more corporate welfare disguised as 'hospitality wins'. The All Whites didn't even make it, but the bars sure cashed in. Sick of this narrative.
Honestly love this. We never get big events and it's mint seeing pubs packed for footy. Went to a watch party and the energy was amazing. more of this pls
to admit but same. But it's nice seeing people happy for once. Even if we're being fleeced for a flat pint lol
yes the pub crawl justification. Each to their own but don't act like it's some economic miracle ffs
Paying $18 for a jug of Speight's to watch a bunch of millionaires kick a ball while this government lets us rot. Classic NZ hospitality tax.
Wonder if those 'big wins' are just a few noisy bars in Auckland. Country's been quiet as down here in Chch. Pretty typical media hype tbh.

As someone working hospo right now, nah. Not seeing it. Owners are still crying about overheads and staff shortages. Maybe the posh bars, not pubs like mine.
wrong with a bit of joy. You must be fun at parties
nah you're right mate. My mate's bar in Tauranga said it was dead. Stuff cooking the books again
Lol busy? I went to three different pubs during a match and they were dead. Must be a Wellington thing.
Lovely to hear small businesses getting a boost! World Cup brings communities together. Good on them.
Facts. My boss was literally complaining about power bills while the games were on. No big wins here
outta here with that positivity. We're trying to be miserable about the economy here
Expats flocking to overpriced sports bars to get homesick? Each to their own I guess. But yeah made for a fun atmosphere in town, not gonna lie.
Wait so we're celebrating drinking at 2pm on a Wednesday? Classic Kiwi culture. But tbh I'd do it too if football was on
Exactly. Saturday morning sesh is tradition, Wednesday afternoon is just dedication
