Work in football development and this is actually a smart move. OFC is a dead end for growth – Gold Cup would be brutal but so good for exposure. Funding's the issue though.
funding's always the issue lol. we're a tinpot federation that spends all budget on flights to Rarotonga
dunno why we keep begging for scraps when we could just host our own tournament in NZ. plenty of empty stadiums now after the world cup.
FFS just focus on the basics. Our grassroots is a mess, clubs can't afford pitches, and we're chasing a Gold Cup invite? Priorities mate.

As someone who actually worked with the national setup – this is just NZF trying to look busy while they dodge real issues. Stanchiongate was years ago and we still don't have a proper A-League team.
