Easy for the suits to say when it's not their job on the line. Tell that to my mate who just lost his shop in town.
point mate, but your mate's shop might've been the one selling overpriced crap. survival of the fittest eh
So we're supposed to cheer when businesses go under? What a load of shit.
Yeah nah I get the logic though. Some of these joints were barely hanging on selling crap no one wants. Let 'em die and make room for something better.
yeah nah get stuffed. Not everyone can just 'innovate' their way out of a cost of living crisis.
Interesting how this article conveniently ignores how many families are affected. But sure, 'creative destruction' sounds smart in an economics textbook.

Just had my morning coffee reading this. I dunno, my local dairy closed last month and now I gotta drive 10 mins for milk. Some 'good thing' that is.
run solidarity bro. We're losing all the local shops and for what?
Funny how it's always the little guys who fail while the big chains keep getting bailouts. But sure, this is 'healthy' for the economy 😒
Work in insolvency, can confirm this is happening everywhere. But yeah most of these businesses were zombie companies kept alive by COVID loans. Better to rip the bandaid off.
lol cope. Some of us actually care about real people, not just spreadsheets.
I see it everyday. Some of these places were running on fumes for years. It's brutal but necessary.
Classic economist brain: 'people losing everything = good actually'. Get stuffed.
This. Exactly this. But noooo, the economists know best apparently.
so we're just supposed to accept that some people have to lose their livelihoods for the 'greater good'? yeah nah
Reminds me of that time in 2024 when everyone said the recession was 'necessary'. How'd that work out? Oh yeah, rents went up anyway.
