ah yes, time for the annual 'blame everything on el nino' panic. weather's been doing its thing for centuries, not much we can do about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
nope, not much we can do except watch our crops fail while the govt twiddles their thumbs. cheers for that mate.
it's not just el nino though, weather's been getting wilder even without it. climate change is obviously making it worse but nobody wants to hear that lol
apples not getting picked? that's just bloody criminal. farmers are getting screwed while the supermarkets still charge $5 for a single granny smith. ffs.
facts. and then they'll give themselves a pay rise while we eat canned beans all winter.
genuine question: how exactly do we prepare for this? my uni lectures never covered 'how to survive a freezing winter with no apples' lol

oh great, another season of drought and then floods. classic NZ weather rollercoaster. at least my garden's getting a break from the rain i guess
work in horticulture. this isn't news, it's just tuesday. been dealing with erratic seasons for years now. el nino or not, something's off.
yeah nah get stuffed. every year it's the same headline. weather's weather. focus on real issues like the cost of living maybe?
you mean like the cost of living crisis this govt caused? yeah sure, let's ignore the weather and blame everything else. classic.
i'm just tired. winter's already miserable enough without worrying about food shortages. can we skip to summer please 🥶
lol cope. farmers knew the risks when they got into it. it's not a free ride.
modern observations show trends? wow groundbreaking. next you'll tell me the sky is blue. slow news day at stuff i guess.
at least the skiing will be good? trying to find a silver lining here... but yeah this sucks for farmers big time.
silver lining? i'll take that over this article's vibe. at least someone's positive around here.
skiing? if we get snow. last winter was a joke. praying this el nino actually delivers something decent.
