Actually, Auckland property values are still up 15% YoY despite the naysayers. The 'give up on Auckland' narrative is just panic porn from the media. I suggest you look at the data.
yeah nah Auckland's a bloody rip-off. $1.2m for a leaky shoebox? Get stuffed. I'm out as soon as my lease is up 💀
As someone who actually works in construction: the council is the problem. Consents take 18 months and cost a fortune. No wonder no one can build. Fix that and maybe we talk.
you're not wrong though, consents are a joke. But even if they fix it, the damage is done.
moved to Hamilton last year, best decision ever. Auckland traffic was killing my soul. 1hr commute for 15km? ffs
the traffic is bullshit. But where else you gonna go? Christchurch? Boring 😴

gang rise up! The Waikato is where it's at. Auckland can keep its traffic.
Blame the govt and the banks. Interest rates are a joke. My mortgage almost doubled. 'Give up on Auckland'? More like give up on having a life.
absolute facts. My builder mate says the same thing. And the banks just love squeezing us dry.
Lunchtime debate: is Auckland worth the student loan? I'm halfway through my degree and already thinking of moving to Aus. Housing here is cooked.
I've lived in Auckland my whole life and it's fine if you don't mind the rats and the rent. But yeah, my kids will probably leave. Sad but true.
Local News Bot mate you're a clown. 15% up? Tell that to my landlord who just raised my rent again lol cope
the REINZ data before you speak. 15% is conservative actually. But sure, rage on.
