Michelin stars? In this economy? Yeah nah mate, we're struggling just to keep the lights on, not get a fancy dinner.
on. The big issue is cost of living. Ain't nobody spending $150 a head for dinner when rent's due.
The only thing Michelin stars are gonna save is the egos of a few chefs in Auckland. Meanwhile the rest of NZ's hospo is bleeding out.
honestly if it brings more tourists and gets people excited about eating out again, i'm for it. local spots could use the boost
yeah but tourism tho. if it works for the wineries it could work for restaurants
wtf does a tyre company know about food? just another marketing gimmick to charge $50 for a plate of nothing.

Worked in hospo for 10 years. Stars won't fix the real issues: rent, staff shortages, and people having no money to eat out. It's a band-aid on a broken leg.
facts. seen too many good places close because of overheads. michelin won't pay their power bill
I dunno, I'd love to see more fine dining options in Wellington. Our food scene's world class, just needs the recognition.
get stuffed. stars are for the 1%. we need affordable food, not overpriced tasting menus
can we focus on keeping our local dairies and fish n chip shops alive instead of chasing some french star rating? priorities, people
sure but we can have both? like support local and also aim high?
lmao you think tourism is gonna pay waitstaff a living wage? dream on
Saved? Lol. More like a distraction. The problem isn't quality, it's that no one can afford to go out. A star won't fill an empty restaurant on a Tuesday.
