Worked hospo for 10 years. We're not 'hanging on by fingernails', we're bloody drowning. Costs up, tips down, customers want Michelin star for Maccas prices.
This. My cousin owns a small restaurant and she's working 7 days just to break even. Madness.

Blame the council rates and rent hikes. My local fish and chip shop doubled prices in 2 years. Something's gotta give.
As someone working front of house, thanks for this article. Customers don't see the 60 hour weeks and stress. Not sure how much longer I'll last in this industry.
