Classic American diplomat coming over here to tell us we haven't done enough while they've been throwing their weight around the Pacific for decades. What a joke.
Yeah nah get stuffed. We don't owe the US anything. They just want us to fall in line like Australia.
I mean, he's not wrong though. We benefit massively from the Five Eyes intel and security guarantees. But the way he said it was a bit of a dick move tbh.
You're both missing the point. We can't just stick our heads in the sand. Gotta engage but on our terms.
real mate. Five Eyes wouldn't save us if China decided to flex. We're a pawn to them at best.
If the US wants more from us maybe they shouldn't have pulled out of TPP and left us hanging on trade. Just sayin.

cope. China's already our biggest trading partner, US is still trying to figure out what century it is.
Typical politician coming in with a soundbite. Wait till he finds out we exist 5km from Antarctica and don't really care about US election cycles down here.
better than sucking up to America for scraps. We do alright on our own.
It's fine, let 'em talk. We'll be over here not getting nuked while the world burns. Cheers mate.
This whole 'what have you done for me' framing is so transactional. Foreign policy shouldn't be like a bad marriage argument. Embarrassing from a diplomat.
this. The whole 'you're with us or against us' thing is so 2002. Move on.
