yeah nah councils have been approving subdivisions on floodplains for years. now they want businesses to fix the mess they created. classic.
that's a fair point actually. System's cooked if we're just building in stupid places
Honestly, if you're buying a house near a river or the coast you've got to do your homework. can't just blame everyone else when the water comes in
flood risk maps are useless when the weather's going mental. Had three 'once in a century' floods in five years. This isn't normal.
facts lol. Meanwhile my mate's place got red-stickered after one downpour. Councils are just collecting consent fees
What even counts as 'flood risk' anymore half of Auckland's on a floodplain lol. Feels like every second property has some warning now

Businesses responding cos they have to. Insurance premiums are thru the roof if they even cover you. It's a mess all round
meanwhile real estate agents still selling homes with 'potential water views' yeah nah more like potential water in ya lounge
Exactly. It's not 'water views' it's 'future insurance claim'
tbh if u buy a house that's flooded twice that's on u. Personal responsibility still matters even if the climate is changing
cope harder. They've flooded THREE times. At some point you gotta look in the mirror
ffs not everyone has the luxury of choice. Some of us just want a roof over our heads without paying half our income
