Ah yes, another government scheme that'll probably cost more to run than the debt it 'reduces'. But sure, throw some more tax money at it.
Bloody typical. Labor creates the mess, National comes in with a 'new system', and we all just have to smile and pay for it. Get stuffed.
You're right about Labor, but National ain't any better. This is just a photo op for Upston.
tbh I'd rather they just forgive the smaller debts and focus on preventing new ones. This treadmill of debt recovery is soul-crushing for beneficiaries.
Yep. Forgiving small debts would actually help people get back on their feet. But nah, gotta keep the cycle going.
1.5 billion 'devastating'? Devastating for whom exactly? The banks? Maybe if welfare wasn't so hard to access in the first place people wouldn't end up in debt.

ffs here we go again – another task force, another review, another round of consultation. Just fix the damn system already 🙄
pretty much. They'll spend 200 million on IT upgrades and still leave beneficiaries in the lurch.
Lunch break and this is what I read? Great. Guess I'll just keep paying taxes so some bureaucrat can pat themselves on the back.
the real 'devastating' debt is the student loan one mate but nah let's focus on welfare. priorities lol
lol facts. student loans are a joke but no one cares cos it's 'choice'
Honestly, whatever works. As long as it stops ppl from getting buried in debt for one mistake. Everyone deserves a fair go.
