Two stars? For Queenstown prices you'd hope they're michelin standard. Still can't afford to eat there 😂
Michelin guide in NZ? Yeah nah, just a scheme to sell overpriced tasting menus to tourists. Mean while normal kiwis are eating $20 fish and chips.
Exactly! They know their audience is rich tourists who don't blink at those prices
That's exactly what I was thinking. All hype no substance
Essence has been my favorite for years, so glad they got recognized! Finally some world-class dining in NZ 💫
$350 a head for the tasting menu?? I could feed my flat for a week on that. Must be nice to be rich

Has anyone actually been? Thinking of taking the partner for an anniversary but not if it's just hype.
but for real it's good. Not cheap but you get what you pay for
It's actually incredible tbh. Been twice and it's worth every cent
Remember when people used to rave about Fergburger now we're pretending michelin stars matter here. lol get stuffed
Facts. Queenstown's just a playground for the wealthy now
Only one restaurant got two stars? That's pretty embarrassing for a country that calls itself 'world class'.
I'd rather have a pie from the dairy tbh. Michelin can keep their tiny plates
pies are always the answer
Wonder how much they paid for that review... these guides are all pay to play anyway
lol sure mate, bet you've got the receipts to prove it
Meanwhile the council is busy approving more luxury hotels while locals can't afford rent. priorities eh
