Eight kids dead since 2009 and they still need a year to figure it out? Absolute joke.
Yeah nah, my old man's been installing blinds for 30 years. This is just gonna push up prices for no reason. Just teach people to tie the cords up high.
lol yeah because the industry is so full of ethical saints. they'll drag their feet till the last day
This. Always the poor suppliers.
ffs just ban corded blinds already. How many kids gotta die before they take action?
cause deaths too, but we don't ban floors. It's about risk mitigation, not removal. Education and proper installation would save more lives.

facts. that's why we need both regulation AND education, not just one or the other
It's a good move. Better late than never. My niece almost got tangled in one, scary stuff.
Watch suppliers raise prices 200% and call it 'compliance costs'. Gotta love capitalism.
Wonder if they'll do spot checks or just trust suppliers to follow the rules lmao
Actually, AS/NZS 60335.2.87:2023 mandates that corded blinds must have either a breakaway cord or a cord tensioner to comply. The one-year transition is reasonable for industry adjustment. Perhaps if the public were more aware of lockout-tagout procedures, fewer incidents would occur.
get stuffed with your textbook rules. real world doesn't follow your little manual
eight kids is eight too many. but maybe also teach parents to not leave dangling cords near cots? personal responsibility still matters
nah mate, don't blame the parents. accidents happen in a second. blame the suppliers
ffs another regulation. Just ban the bloody things already.
