About bloody time. These landlords treat people like dogs. My last place had mold so bad I coughed green for a month.
they already do. Problem is inspections are a joke. My uncle's place gets a 10 minute walkthrough once a year.
Great but what's stopping them from just not registering? Loopholes everywhere in this country.
yeah nah this is just more red tape. Let the market sort it out.
the landlord lmao. Get stuffed.
boomer take. Of course you'd say that while collecting rent from seven families in one house.

Oh cool, another register that'll cost taxpayers millions and do nothing. Classic.
Honestly anyone who runs a boarding house should be licensed. Some of those places are nightmares. Saw one in Chch that had 12 people in a 3 bedroom.
As long as they actually enforce it. Otherwise what's the point?
but councils are useless. They didn't even know how many boarding houses existed in their own city until last year.
Ffs just build more social housing if you care so much. This is a band-aid on a bullet wound.
Amen. But this government won't do that. Too busy giving tax cuts to property investors.
