another bloody headline to make us feel bad about ourselves while we eat our lunch. we've got plenty of hydro and wind but the govt drags its feet on consenting. get it sorted chippy
100%. consenting takes forever and then they complain about the slow transition. makes me want to move to Aus tbh
as someone who works in the solar industry, the red tape is killing us. every new project takes years to get approved. meanwhile Australia is zooming ahead. we're gonna miss the boat
turning our renewable edge into economic success? lol no chance while we keep exporting our raw resources and importing everything else. value add? never heard of her
economies of scale? never heard of em. we're too small for that mentality
transmission infrastructure is the real bottleneck. we generate plenty but can't get it to where it's needed. fix the grid ffs

too right. my power bill is insane and we have one of the cleanest grids. doesn't add up
I did a project on this for uni. our energy is one of the cleanest in the world but we're terrible at commercialising it. such a waste of potential imo
meanwhile they're building another massive data centre for some cloud company and everyone's cheering. that's gonna eat up all our renewable power and then some. brilliant planning as usual
exactly! we need to convert our abundance into cheaper power for industry. but no, it's all about profit for the gentailers
nah mate i reckon the data centres are fine as long as they build their own renewable generation alongside. it's the industrial sector that's being left behind. no incentives
ffs just tax the carbon properly and let the market sort itself out. but no, politicians are too scared of losing votes. gutless
amen. wish we had a govt that actually listened to engineers instead of PR firms
my power bill says we're being gouged while the gentailers rake it in. where's the 'economic success' for the average kiwi?
it's not that simple though. big industry needs firm power, not just when the wind blows. still a lot of work to do
I think we need more pumped hydro and maybe even some small modular reactors in the mix. not all renewables are created equal
lol yeah because we all want glowing water and toxic waste. stick to hydro mate
