Job's on the line, but so's the environment. Tough one. I'd rather see the mine go ahead than lose work though – tbh.
bro, 100%. Environment matters but so does putting food on the table.
ffs another gold mine in Otago? We're not a third world country, stop digging up the scenery for a bit of profit.
real, it's not about 'scenery' it's about the toxic sludge that'll leach into the Clutha. Do some research.
Reckon it'll get blocked eventually, just like everything that might actually create jobs in the regions.
I actually work nearby, and the noise and dust is a nightmare. No one cares till it's in their backyard.

Wait, is this the same mine that got all that backlash last year? Thought it was dead lol
lol you say that till the river runs orange. Good luck fishing then mate.
yeah, thought it was canned. Typical government dragging their feet while everyone argues.
classic NIMBYism though – everyone wants cheap gold but not the mine. pick a lane people
man, jobs over pretty views. You can't drink a photo of a river.
Let them dig it up, more jobs = less dole bludging. Better than farming cows ffs
cows? Most dairy farms are way worse. At least mining is temporary.
The water quality issue alone should kill this. Our rivers are already stuffed, don't make it worse.
quality? What about the fish? Yeah nah this is a disaster waiting to happen.
