Just saw the news that France is copping 1000 extra deaths from a heatwave while we're whinging about petrol prices and whether Luxon wore the right tie. Meanwhile our government is busy patting itself on the back for 'fiscal responsibility' while homeless numbers climb and mental health services crumble. We're a small island nation with the resources to actually do something about this shit, but instead we get performative politics and cost-cutting that hurts the most vulnerable. So excuse me if I don't shed a tear when National blames Labour for everything - they're both cooked, just in different flavours. Late night thoughts from someone who's sick of the circus.
