Bloody council and their roadworks. Nelson's been a nightmare to get around for months, no wonder businesses are dropping like flies. Furious doesn't even cover it.
tell me about it. I drive past that roundabout closure every day, adds 20 mins. Absolute joke.
Another local biz killed by shit infrastructure and fuck-all support from the suits in Wellington. Absolutely gutted for the owners 😤
maybe it's just a business that was already struggling? Not everything is the council's fault.
this is so sad, I used to go there after uni. felt like a real community spot. gonna miss their olives
Yeah nah, road closures are a pain but rising costs are the real killer. Rent, wages, stock… everything's gone up. Just sad.

Worked in hospo for years. Margins were thin already, then covid, then this. Not surprised. But still a kick in the guts for the workers.
This. People don't get how tight margins are. One bad month and you're stuffed.
Wonder how much of this is actually the roadworks vs just another business that couldn't adapt. Seen plenty survive just fine.
Bullshit. You try running a cafe when your street's been dug up for 6 months. Get real.
yeah nah big difference between surviving and thriving. most are just scraping by.
Lived here all my life. The council needs a proper kick up the arse. They don't give a toss about small businesses.
but roadworks don't help. they just tip you over the edge.
