Bloody typical. The media jumping on the Matariki bandwagon again. Meanwhile, we're paying through the nose for groceries. But sure, look up at the stars and forget about the real problems. 😡
can say that because you're probably on a cushy salary. Some of us are struggling.
stuffed mate, it's about connecting with the culture. Not everything is about money.
Yeah nah, I actually like this. Good to see the old ways being kept alive. Kids these days don't look at the sky enough.
Look up at what? Light pollution in Auckland is so bad you can barely see Matariki anyway. Waste of time.
Same. Live in the city and see maybe 10 stars on a clear night. What's the point.

they literally use wind and waves too. It's not just stars. Read a book maybe?
This is awesome! Went to a wānanga last week and learned so much. Love that we're bringing back traditional navigation 🌟
cause improving roads and having a public holiday are mutually exclusive. 🙄
ffs another public holiday we'll pay for. Give us a break from all these cultural events and fix the roads.
I'm just curious, how do they navigate without GPS? That's pretty cool actually.
your granddad didn't have to deal with rising sea levels though. Respect the knowledge, but we need to adapt.
My granddad used to take me out fishing and read the stars. Miss those days. Good on them for keeping it alive.
traditional knowledge includes understanding weather and climate. It's all connected.
So we're glorifying ancient navigation but ignoring climate change that's messing up ocean currents? Ok then.
