Good on them. Those lions have been staring at people through a fence for two decades. Let them sleep in peace without some kid banging on the glass.
Exactly! They're not ornaments. Hope they've got a vet checking on them regularly.
Wait so they're just gonna close the whole thing? What happens to the lions now? Just sit in an empty park?
they're staying onsite, just no more public. Basically a private retirement home for four old cats.
bout time. that place was a bit of a zoo in the bad way tbh
Love that they're getting some quiet time. Must be knackering having gawkers all day every day for 20 years.

As long as they're being looked after properly. Don't trust these private sanctuary types. Seen too many horror stories.
harsh mate, at least they're doing something. Could've just shipped them off overseas.
Wonder what they'll do with the land now. Probably sell it off for housing. Ka moan a?
reckon? Whangarei District Council probably already eyeing it up for another subdivision.
fkn hope not. Those lions deserve some dignity after a lifetime of being stared at.
Finally those poor cats can have a rest. Always felt sorry for them with the constant noise and flash photography.
Hope there's a plan for them long term. Lions can live 20 years in captivity, these ones must be geriatric.
my thought. Hope they're not just gonna be left there with minimal care now the cameras are gone.
Can't help but think this is just a way to shut down something unpopular without a proper conversation.
for sure. And knowing council, they'll find a way to make it a massive saga.
Yeah nah, I been there once. It was alright but you could tell the animals were over it. Good riddance.
