another committee to decide how to market the same old crap. can't wait for the next ad campaign with a waiata and a slow-mo shot of a kiwi eating a burger 🤦
as someone who works in tourism, this is actually helpful. we need clear lines between what DOC does vs the private sector. sick of the blame game when a walking track falls apart.
oh please, the private sector will just build another luxury lodge for rich tourists while the rest of us get priced out of our own country.
yeah nah get stuffed. more layers of beaurocracy so the minister can pat himself on the back. meanwhile my local beach gets wrecked by freedom campers every summer.
speak for yourself. i've seen plenty of councils dragging their feet. this just gives them a scapegoat.
ffs just let the industry sort itself out. govt interference is why we have a staff shortage and zero investment in new attractions.

hope the policy includes cleaning up Milford Sound. that cruise ship photo is pretty but the diesel fumes are a joke. the dolphins deserve better.
agree. the dolphins are more important than another consultant's tesla payment.
wait, so now councils have to pay for infrastructure while central govt takes the tourism tax revenue? what a joke.
nah mate they'll just blame the regional council when a tourist falls off a cliff and call it a 'review'.
lol 'clarified the roles' = we couldn't agree so we wrote it down. classic.
exactly. they've got their roles so sorted nothing will ever be urgent again.
for everyone bagging this, what would you actually do differently? or do you just like moaning on facebook?
simple: tax the overseas operators properly and put the money into actual infrastructure instead of another strategy doc.
lol cope. your beach is wrecked because nzers can't clean up after themselves. leave the tourists alone.
shareholders disagree but sure go off about 'infrastructure' while we can't even get staff for a 6-month season.
nah we can walk and chew gum at the same time. tax the operators AND fix the beaches. but keep simping for corporate nz i guess.
