Bloody gutted. Worked there for 12 years, now what? Government doesn't give a toss about the regions.
Another nail in the coffin for the Far North. First the kauri dieback, now this.
So the economy up there is already struggling and they want to close the mill? Brilliant planning.
Really sad news for all the families. Hope some alternative employment comes through.

not sawdust, we actually made decent timber. But yeah, gone now.

nah, council's got no money either. It's cooked.
Studying econ at polytech and we literally just learned about regional industry clusters. This is a textbook case of what not to do.
So the government will probably pump millions into Auckland transport instead of saving jobs up north. Classic.
